EDM at the Grammy Awards

Last night, we saw the nominations for the 55th Grammy Awards. Among the dance music categories are Best Dance Recording, for which Avicii’s “Levels,” Calvin Harris’ “Let’s Go,” Skrillex’s “Bangarang,” the Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child,” and inexplicably, Al Walser’s “I Can’t Live Without You.” The nominees for Best Dance/Electronica Album are Steve Aoki’s “Wonderland,” The Chemical Brothers’ “Don’t Think,” Deadmau5′s “>Album Title Goes Here<,” Kaskade’s “Fire & Ice,” and Skrillex’s “Bangarang.” Diplo has also earned himself a nomination for Producer Of The Year, thanks to his work with pop artists Justin Bieber, Alex Clare, Usher, Snoop Lion, Marina And The Diamonds, Santigold, No Doubt, and Wale. The last dance music category of the Grammy’s is Best Remixed Recording, for which Axwell’s remix of Feenixpawl’s “In My Mind,” Photek’s remix of Moby’s “Lie Down In Darkness,” Eric Prydz remix of M83′s “Midnight City,” Skrillex & Nero’s remix of “Promises,” and Tommy Trash’s remix of Deadmau5′s “The Veldt,” have been nominated. Having already created a stir in the dance music world, the buzz and anticipation surrounding the awards will continue until the winners of these categories are announced.
